Haneefah Khaaliq is a former Indiana U.S. Senate candidate. Khaaliq is also a former schoolteacher, author, faculty member at Indiana University, and civil rights officer and lawyer. She operates a small business that refers indigent clients to attorneys and mental health therapists nationwide. 

Khaaliq is the first African American to run for the U.S. Senate in a general election in Indiana and one of the first African American women to seek nomination. In 2021, Khaaliq crisscrossed the state visiting several Indiana counties and hosting town halls. 

Despite her efforts, on February 18, 2022, Khaaliq was removed from the primaries by the Indiana Election Commission after it was alleged she did not meet the requirements. Khaaliq suspected foul play and conducted a five-month investigation revealing shocking truths in a 10-minute documentary. Khaaliq was denied her right to appeal and proceeded as a write-in candidate.
